Castleville legends summer solstice12/30/2023 ![]() ![]() Temporary heroes are only available during an event. Hero Bonuses at Specific Places of Legend. On the summer solstice, the Sun is directly overhead the Tropic of Cancer. It’s the winter solstice in the Southern Hemisphere (the shortest day of the year).Neither the earliest sunrise nor the latest sunsets are on this day. Farthest! Surprised? It’s not the distance but Earth’s tilt that matters.Usually, but can range from June 20 to June 22.Latin words sol, meaning Sun and sistere, meaning to come to a stop or stand still.“It’s the start of summer!” (Or, winter, if you live south of the equator).Ĭheck out our Summer Solstice page for everything you need to know about the June Solstice, including FAQs, folklore, and more! With all that, most people only care about one single solstice fact: That’s why our eyes are maximally sensitive to that color. As for the Sun’s visible emissions, its strongest is the green light. That’s the Sun’s strongest emission, which is the kind we feel as heat. The kind of energy the Sun emits most strongly is not ultraviolet, gamma rays, or even visible light-it’s actually infrared.Sunlight strikes places in your home that get illuminated at no other time.Īs a bonus, here are two additional Sun-themed facts: On this day, the Sun rises farthest left on the horizon and sets at its rightmost possible spot.Better hurry, you only have a few days left! In India, the summer solstice ends the six-month period when spiritual growth is supposedly easiest. ![]() Nor the earliest sunrise! Government created monopoly examples12/30/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Dominant supermarket chains may be examples of oligopolies. While business monopolies operate without market competitors, oligopolies operate with limited market competitors. Related: What Is Quality Assurance? What's the difference between a business monopoly and an oligopoly? Quality products and services: Businesses deliver quality products and services to establish a monopoly and maintain their monopoly status. Greater investment in improvement: Their dominant market position allows monopolies to invest more in developing the business, its products and talent and less in marketing.Įasy to scale operations: Businesses with a monopoly on a certain product can often produce mass quantities at a lower price to help the business grow. Greater business focus: As monopolies have a dominant market position, they can focus on improving their offerings and operations rather than dominating any competitors. Reliable delivery: Monopolies ensure essential goods and services, such as groceries and electricity, are always available to consumers.Įxclusive offerings for consumers: Monopolies can benefit consumers by giving them access to new and innovative products and services. Lower average costs: After investing in infrastructure, monopolies can enjoy lower average costs over time as they can access 100% of the market. Price stability: Monopolies tend to keep their prices more stable than businesses that adjust prices in line with competitors, so they can help households budget. Higher profits: Businesses that dominate their markets have the opportunity to earn more revenue than businesses with competitors, as they often generate more sales and can charge higher prices due to exclusivity.īenefits for shareholders and community: As monopolies generate higher profits, they can direct more money to their shareholders and communities. Related: Job Hunting Tips to Secure the Job You Want Other benefits of monopoly businessesĪside from the job security they offer employees, there are several other benefits to monopolies and the markets they operate in. The job security monopolies provide can give its employees great peace of mind. Motivated employees may stay with a monopoly for their entire career, as the company positions itself for long-term success. Pursuing higher wages may mean relocating or changing industries.Īs they operate without competition, monopolies are often stable employment options for employees. Negotiating a higher salary can also be more challenging, as businesses with a monopoly are often the only option for their employees. This means monopolies limit job opportunities. If you want to work in a specific industry that has a business monopoly in your area, like consumers, you have a single choice. Monopolies limit the number of employers in any job market. Barriers to entering the market often make it challenging for new businesses to launch and take away a dominant business's monopoly. For example, a garbage collection company may secure a contract with a local council to collect garbage from all households and businesses in the local council area. Some business monopolies have contracts with private or government organisations that give them exclusive market rights. They may offer exclusive products or services customers can only purchase from them. Related: What is Business Development? How do business monopolies work?īusiness monopolies work by creating market conditions where they're the only option for customers seeking specific products or services. Residents in the area can only choose this energy provider to power their homes and businesses. For example, if an area has a single energy provider, that provider has a monopoly. Matt anniss12/30/2023 ![]() ![]() In 'Join The Future', I described Unique 3’s debut album “Jus Unique” as, ‘the only album to mix the key elements of the style – the bleeps, the rumbling sub-bass and the skittish percussion programming – with the sounds that influenced its creation’. Incidentally, “JazzOut” is accompanied on the same EP by “JazzIn”, quite possibly the only Bleep cut ever to boast jazz guitar solos. Somewhat irritatingly, the sound quality of the original pressings is dreadful – or at least nowhere near as bass-heavy as it should be. It was created by Bahar sometime after he parted company with Unique 3 (he worked with them on “Only The Beginning” and “The Theme”) and appeared as part of a white label on Huddersfield’s Tribe Records, an imprint that vanished almost as fast as it appeared. “JazzOut”, a rare and hard to find solo track from Bradford producer The Mad Musician (real name David Bahar), is a fine example of this. One of the things that marked out early Bleep & Bass cuts – aside from the bleeps, bass-weight and raw production – was the way that the bassline was often used as either the main riff, or shared the same pattern as the top-line melody. On a different day I would have picked an entirely different set of tracks!' This is what Test Pressing is all about. ![]() As he said, 'there are tons of others I could have picked – these sprung to mind. This is a sound both myself and Piers love so I'm discovering track after track plus it was also a perfect excuse to get in touch with Matt and ask him to make us a list of the tracks he thinks people might have missed. Anniss will take part in a series of ‘in conversation’ events hosted by journalists – including another Juno Daily regular Oli Warwick – DJs and producers.Journalist Matt Anniss has written a superb book 'Join The Future' subtitled 'Bleep Techno & The Birth Of British Bass Music' which we can't recommend enough. To mark the publication of the new edition of the book in January 2023, author Matt Anniss is heading out on tour in February. It’s still the same core book, just stronger and a little longer – like the definitive extended 12” version of a much-loved bleep record.” When Velocity Press offered me the chance to update and expand the book, I took the opportunity. Other critics have highlighted the level of research behind the book.Ĭommenting on the new edition, Matt Anniss said: “Since the publication of Join The Future in 2019, I’ve been blown away by the feedback from readers and delighted with the reception from critics. ![]() In 2021, Rolling Stone UK cited it as one of the best non-fiction books on British dance music culture, alongside music books that are considered genuinely key texts such as Dan Hancox’s ‘Inner City Pressure’ and Jon Savage’s E’ngland’s Dreaming’. Since the book’s publication, it has become a ‘must-read’ for anyone interested in the development of British dance music culture and received hugely positive feedback from critics. Mixing social, cultural and oral history, Anniss puts forward a persuasive argument that it not only inspired the development of more celebrated styles of British dance music, but should also be considered the foundation of what many now call ‘UK bass’ (that collection of styles that put heavy sub-bass to the fore). Join The Future traces the roots, origins, development and legacy of bleep & bass (sometimes known as ‘bleep techno’), a highly influential but previously overlooked style of UK dance music that emerged from Yorkshire and the Midlands from 1988 onwards. ![]() Three years after it was first published, Matt Anniss’s critically acclaimed alternative history of UK dance music in the acid house era is returning to stores in updated and expanded form.īoasting even more interviews, sharpened analysis, strengthened arguments, an updated recommended listening list and a whole new ‘afterword’ chapter, this is the definitive revised edition of what author Matthew Collin called ‘a significant addition to the canon of dance music literature’.Īnniss will also take to the road in February Expanded edition of ‘Join The Future’ out on January 7 ![]()

![]() Individual LEDs usually provide only a single narrow range of colors, and so different color LEDs are mixed in grow lights in proportions depending on the intended use. Most or all LEDs use AC/DC or DC/DC power supplies that provide constant direct current through the LEDs, regulating the amount of total power the LEDs can draw and preventing their failure. LED grow lights are usually composed of multiple individual light-emitting diodes in a casing with a heat sink and built-in fans. LED lights produce the highest photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) of any light. LED light is regarded as the fourth generation of light sources. Two plants growing under a magenta (red + blue) LED grow light Common types by generation Fourth generation: Light emitting diodes (LEDs) Findings showed that plants are affected by light in the red, green and blue parts of the visible light spectrum. NASA has tested LED grow lights for their high efficiency in growing food in space for extraterrestrial colonization. By designing an indoor grow light using diodes, specific wavelengths of light can be produced. In recent years LED technology has been introduced into the grow light market. If high-pressure sodium lights are used for the vegetative phase, plants grow slightly more quickly, but will have longer internodes, and may be longer overall. Red spectrum light may trigger a greater flowering response in plants. As well, they may be used as an amendment to full-spectrum lighting during the reproductive stage. High-pressure sodium lights are also used as a single source of light throughout the vegetative and reproductive stages. Blue spectrum light may trigger a greater vegetative response in plants. With the introduction of ceramic metal halide lighting and full-spectrum metal halide lighting, they are increasingly being utilized as an exclusive source of light for both vegetative and reproductive growth stages. ![]() Metal halide lights are regularly used for the vegetative phase of plant growth, as they emit larger amounts of blue and ultraviolet radiation. Indoor flower and vegetable growers typically use high-pressure sodium (HPS/SON) and metal halide (MH) HID lights, but fluorescents and LEDs are replacing metal halides due to their efficiency and economy. Today, the most widely used lights for professional use are HIDs and fluorescents. The setup includes a carbon filter to remove odors, and ducting to exhaust hot air using a powerful exhaust fan.Ī range of bulb types can be used as grow lights, such as incandescents, fluorescent lights, high-intensity discharge lamps (HID), and light-emitting diodes (LED). Plants or lights are moved as close together as possible so that they receive equal lighting and that all light coming from the lights falls on the plants rather than on the surrounding area.Įxample of an HPS grow light set up in a grow tent. Reflectors are thus often used in the lights to maximize light efficiency. Īccording to the inverse-square law, the intensity of light radiating from a point source (in this case a bulb) that reaches a surface is inversely proportional to the square of the surface's distance from the source (if an object is twice as far away, it receives only a quarter the light) which is a serious hurdle for indoor growers, and many techniques are employed to use light as efficiently as possible. Although most grow lights are used on an industrial level, they can also be used in households. Grow lights are used for horticulture, indoor gardening, plant propagation and food production, including indoor hydroponics and aquatic plants. the germination/vegetative phase or the flowering/fruiting phase), and the photoperiod required by the plants, specific ranges of spectrum, luminous efficacy and color temperature are desirable for use with specific plants and time periods. ![]() Depending on the type of plant being cultivated, the stage of cultivation (e.g. Outdoor conditions are mimicked with varying colour temperatures and spectral outputs from the grow light, as well as varying the intensity of the lamps.
